Holland’s Custom Cabinets worked with the homeowners of a country home in east San Diego County to transform their outdated kitchen into a modern masterpiece harkening back to more rustic times. Our biggest challenge was to integrate this new work with previous remodels we assisted with both 18 months and five years ago. Because we had been so fully involved previously, we were better able to match finishes, wood types, and functionality with other parts of the home.
In the kitchen, we went with Face Frame European cabinet construction using solid cherry wood and pre-finished plywood interiors. This technique, known for its lack of a front frame, creates a sleek, seamless look characterized by concealed hinges and full overlay doors.
The chosen shaker style, called “Durango,” echoes the rustic charm of the home while incorporating modern elements such as stainless-steel appliances, country-themed lighting, innovative storage solutions, and a spacious island featuring a sink and dishwasher.
