Weary of spending time on their hands and knees searching the dark recesses of their existing kitchen cabinets and drawers, these homeowners desired more than just your typical update to their circa-1980s design—they wanted a full custom remodel to convert the outdated space into a highly functional kitchen dazzling with natural beauty.
Working with the clients, Holland’s Custom Cabinets opted for Walnut cabinets with a clear finish and Revere doors, creating a sophisticated look that was also durable and easy to clean.
With plenty of space to work with, we took advantage of high ceilings by making the upper cabinets taller and outfitting them with adjustable shelving, plus we crafted a large, center island to provide additional counter space, oversized drawers for storage, a prep sink, warming drawer, and a stand mixer pull-out/lift with ample storage below.
Since these clients had plenty of space to work with, we decided to install large, custom-made drawers throughout the kitchen, including under the cooktop and large center island. The ample storage and rugged extensions make it easy to reach kitchen essentials. Just a simple pull, and these homeowners can find everything stored in the same place.
One of the first things these clients requested was to hide away kitchen appliances that weren’t in use, but keep them within easy reach. To achieve this, we used a center island mixer lift and double pullout trashcan, among other modern amenities.
We’re firm believers in the ‘no wasted space’ policy. That’s why we made the center island drawers 28” deep to utilize all the additional space available. Likewise, our custom-built corner lazy Susan transformed an otherwise difficult-to-use nook into a functional spot. This creative thinking is unique to Holland.
