In a significant remodel down to bare studs, Holland’s Custom Cabinets had the privilege of working in this contemporary-style home owned by a well-known local architect. Chosen for our reputation for expert craftsmanship and attention to detail, one of our main challenges was designing frameless European-style kitchen cabinets and storage to follow the kitchen’s unique curvature. This is particularly evident with how the cabinets to the left of the refrigerator flow with the shape of the room and the soffit above.
Our work also included crafting a stainless steel cabinet to complement the home’s modern appliances and contemporary aesthetics, blending functionality with a high-end finish. The kitchen island offers a simple seating area that doesn’t distract from the space’s high ceilings, beams, and curved walls.
Lighting plays a crucial role in this space, with recessed can lighting in the soffit, under-cabinet lighting near the stove, and a long linear diffuser over the island. These elements work together to enhance the room’s ambiance and highlight various architectural features without overwhelming the space.
Meanwhile, dual pocketing doors on a pantry/bar area create a large, functional prep area that can be easily concealed when not in use, easily hiding clutter and maintaining the home’s minimalist aesthetic.
One of the unique aspects of this project was the integration of switches and electrical panels into the cabinetry. Between the display cabinet and the refrigerator, Holland’s incorporated the switches into the design, concealing electrical components for the entire house within a sub-panel for a clean, minimalistic look.
Holland’s also created custom cabinetry for a small bathroom in the home. In keeping with the overall modern design, the bathroom cabinetry features textured laminate with a wood grain finish. Designed as a floating cabinet, its sleek appearance provides a simple yet elegant storage solution.
