These homeowners engaged Holland’s Custom Cabinets to create ample kitchen storage that was functional, durable, and maintained a high-end, custom appearance.
The home’s original kitchen was a small, closed-in “shotgun” style kitchen where appliances, countertops, and cabinets were aligned along two parallel walls. We collaborated closely with the client to reimagine their space, creating an ideal layout for them and their young family that featured a large central island that could act as a hub and stainless-steel appliances.
The clients shared their concerns, goals, and ideas throughout this project, which made them fantastic partners. This close collaboration allowed us to create a dream kitchen that involved thoughtful space planning and visualization to balance their desire for high-end aesthetics with practical functionality.
For the cabinetry, our solution was to go with Shaker style doors, UV-protectant-coated maple plywood interiors, and clean, simple lines. We utilized top-quality cabinet hardware and opted for both face frame and European style frameless construction techniques.
Face frame construction features a front frame for structural support and a traditional look, while European style construction offers a modern, sleek design that maximizes interior space by eliminating the front frame. Combining the two approaches allowed us to cater to various aesthetic preferences and functionality as needed.
To ensure the kitchen felt open, airy, and bright, we finished the cabinets with pure white paint which reflected the natural light spilling in from existing windows and a French door. The white paint and stainless appliances scattered the ambient light from the windows, brightening and enlarging the space.
