Remodels can be giant sources of stress, especially when high-traffic areas, such as the kitchen or living room, are involved. After all, these areas are typically the hubs around which most homes operate. Renovating them can be very disruptive, particularly during the holidays when most people already feel too busy.
- How will you be able to accommodate large gatherings of family and friends?
- How will you prepare holiday meals? Where will people sit?
- Will your decorations be affected? Where is safe to decorate? Where is off-limits?
- What other holiday traditions might you need to alter while work is ongoing?
We’re Experts at Minimizing Project-Related Stress
As a family-run business, we know how important the holidays are. We also know how stressful they can be—even when there’s no remodeling project involved. Factor a remodeling project into your holiday season, and it can become a source of added stress and chaos.
Fortunately, clients of Holland’s Custom Cabinets can put our forty-plus years of experience in cabinetry design, manufacturing, and installation to work for them. As you can imagine, we’ve done a lot of work around the holidays during our forty years. We know successful remodels require more than just excellent designs, quality cabinetry, and flawless execution. Successful remodels require expert planning and patience.
Regardless of the time of year, but especially around the holidays and other significant events, we work with clients to stage the work so they and their families can continue to live and work within the affected area with as little overwhelm as possible.
Get Organized
Holland’s Custom Cabinets has worked with hundreds of individuals and families over the years. Many have faced the same logistical issues you’re bound to encounter during your remodel.
We encourage clients to take advantage of our experience and expertise. We gladly offer guidance about how you might relocate kitchen and dining functions to other areas of the house temporarily during the remodel. We can . . .
- Help you consider options such as portable shelving for storing dishes, utensils, small appliances, and even pantry items.
- Offer suggestions for alternative cooking methods, such as microwaves, counter-top ovens, and air fryers.
- Share how other clients have met the challenge, including the use of min-fridges and coolers for refrigeration.
We also provide strategies for keeping down dust and construction debris.
Communicate
As with any healthy relationship, effective two-way communication is essential. Before the project begins, you’ll want to let us know any specific times you don’t want us on site. This is especially important around the holidays. Obviously, there are critical dates (the holidays themselves), but you may also have other times when guests are expected. Guest and gatherings might affect parking at your home and whether you want us working on site at that time.
Likewise, our team members wish to enjoy the holidays with their families. We do our best to inform clients how the holidays affect availability, scheduling, and other aspects of the project.
Be Patient
We pride ourselves on a decades-long track record of delivering consistent, high-quality results on-time and on-budget. That said, around the holidays (and especially with ongoing global supply-chain issues), schedules, deliveries, and access to certain materials are more subject to change than usual. Winter weather and the availability of contractors, sub-contractors, and suppliers over the holidays can also affect schedules and turnaround times.
Also, we don’t like surprises . . . and we’re sure you don’t either. To ensure there are no surprises during the project, we communicate with clients routinely (see “Communicate” section above).
With Holland’s, you can rest assured we will do everything within our power to deliver projects on-time, every time.
