These homeowners gutted their older farmhouse and rebuilt it, using updated finishes and features throughout the kitchen, living room, offices, and bathrooms.
Holland’s Custom Cabinets worked with the clients’ independent designer to create custom cabinets, shelving, and storage space using multiple materials and finishes to achieve the modernized look and functionality desired by the homeowners.
We updated the cabinetry using the latest materials, such as Cleaf (a textured melamine product), to achieve a realistic-looking wood appearance that is rugged, low maintenance, easy-to-clean, and environmentally friendly, plus integrated painted wood cabinets in multiple colors to add a bit of contrast. We also deployed numerous storage features and organizers, lots of drawers, and lighting in the upper cabinets.
This approach resulted in a cohesive design that achieved the updated, modern look, added much-needed storage and organizational features, while also preserving the spirit of the original farmhouse.
To maximize storage and enhance a more modern look and feel for the kitchen, the clients wanted the lighted, upper cabinets to reach the ceiling.
Floating shelves with custom glass inserts that allow light to carry through, plus the use of double “magic corner” storage pull-out pantries helped us take advantage of narrow spaces and create a more open, airy feeling.
Holland’s also built custom appliance garages to minimize countertop clutter, custom drawer organizers, and a walk-in, climate-controlled, custom-wine cooler with plenty of room to grow.
The client wanted their new, custom entertainment center to be the focal point of their living room. Constructed of white oak with a wire-brushed finish, it features open shelving for storage and display, a large, central section for a flat screen television, and cabinet storage beneath.
It all sits atop a custom metal platform that not only adds stability but matches the metal frames of adjoining tables.
The clients wanted their two offices to be both functional and inviting. In one office, Holland’s designed a custom layout with window seating and cabinets with a painted grey finish. In the other office, we used custom Cleaf materials with a matching wood top.
Below the knee space in one office is a television that raises and lowers on a lift for ease of access and stowing. Both offices feature open shelving for storage and display, as well as cabinets and drawers for organizing and storing materials.
In the bathrooms, we went with custom-built, painted white cabinet towers sitting on countertops. Many of the doors feature storage racks mounted to them for small item storage. We also created custom pullouts for hampers and laundry storage.
Large undercabinet drawers provide lots of storage and the countertops provide plenty of space for two sinks.
We used Cleaf and paint grade materials for the cabinetry in the laundry room, which features a large apron sink, a custom drying rack above it, plenty of countertop space for folding and laundry prep, and even a designated space for their pets’ food and water bowls.
