Displeased with their newly-purchased home’s dated, worn-out kitchen and its dark, tight spaces with bad access, these homeowners turned to Holland’s Custom Cabinets to design a modern looking space using the newest materials available. Ultimately, the clients decided to gut the entire house back to its bare walls, so they asked us to carry the look and feel of the kitchen refresh to encompass a new bar, bathroom, closet space, laundry room, and home office.
To achieve the clean, seamless, modern look desired by the clients, we researched and sourced new, synthetic, textured composites to mimic real wood, which we used to build their cabinets.
The clients also wanted their new cabinetry to provide abundant storage and modern innovations to improve access and ease-of-use. Throughout, we used many of the latest cabinet storage features such as rollout shelving, rollout trash cans, and lazy Susans to minimize dead space.
From the “before” pictures, you can see that we were able to morph this dated kitchen into a space that’s open, better lighted, and looks like it belongs in the 21st century. The kitchen includes tons of open counterspace for food prep and serving, a central island with a sink and bar stool seating, a large stainless French door refrigerator, and a double wall oven with an oversized drawer below and a large cabinet above for storage.
The cabinets feature both under- and above-cabinet lighting. We also created custom spaces to accommodate built-in appliances.
The bar area features a wet sink, a great counter top prep area, an under-counter mini fridge and wine cooler, plus open shelves above for display and storage.
Note how the cabinetry uses no trim moldings and were custom fitted to the walls and ceiling—an extra attention to detail that further accentuates the clean, modern look.
Continuing with the contemporary look and feel of the kitchen, this bathroom remodel features double sinks and lots of drawers for storage, which also feature electric plugs.
We built the bathroom cabinets a little taller to match the same finished countertop height as the kitchen, plus created extra storage space by building floor-to-ceiling cabinets on the wall opposite the sink area.
This is not your average closet! This custom closet was designed and built to the exacting needs of the clients.
Features include a built-in safe, pull out hampers, built-in belt racks, and a valet rod. We also created dedicated areas for suitcase and shoe storage—plus custom lighting throughout means there are no dark spaces.
This design checks all the boxes for today’s home office. It includes lots of counter space for printers, computers, and other peripherals, plus an excess of drawers and upper cabinets for storage and organization of files and accessories.
The corner window allows in natural light, while undercabinet lighting assures the space is well lit at all times.
Highlights of this laundry room include a built-in washer and dryer with a countertop running above to create the perfect work area, upper cabinets for lots of storage, undercabinet lighting, and a countertop running the length of the opposite wall, adding even more workspace.
There are also built-in hampers for dirty clothes, a sink, and a custom space created above the sink with a closet rod for hanging clothes.
