Holland’s Custom Cabinets created custom cabinetry for this home in San Diego Country Estates, a rural community known for its horse ranches and open spaces. This influence is evident in the home’s overall design, which informed our approach.
To create cabinets reflective of the natural surroundings, we opted for rustic alder due to its distinctive grain and character. Adding warmth and a timeless appeal, this material integrates well with the space’s slate floor and wooden ceiling details.
Featuring a farmhouse sink and a striking copper hood, the kitchen also includes stainless steel appliances. The homeowners opted for exposed pot and pan storage above the cabinetry, which we factored into the design. The upper cabinetry offers dual storage with small display shelves both above and below, perfect for knickknacks and other items.
The pantry area features custom-made bypass doors and storage for spices, cookbooks, and essentials. It’s a practical yet aesthetic solution that adds to the kitchen’s rustic charm. Meanwhile, we used the back of the long row of kitchen cabinets to ensure a visually smooth transition from the kitchen to the adjoining sunken living room.
