Solid “espresso” color on both upper and lower cabinets gives this kitchen a bold, confident look and feel.
The contractor for this kitchen remodel contacted Holland’s Custom Cabinets to help the homeowners achieve a design that worked well with their existing tile flooring, met their tight schedule, plus provided the specific functionality they desired.
With their previous cabinets, the clients did not have good accessibility to items stored in their lower units and their old, upper cabinets lacked adjustable shelving.
The new cabinets Holland’s designed and built feature adjustable shelving, dedicated storage for bakeware and oversized dishes, spacious drawers, and custom rollouts featuring Blum full extension slides for smooth and quiet operation.
The cabinetry style was chosen by the clients because they desired simplistic, easy-to-clean doors. Because they wanted a dark, stained color, they chose alder wood for its ability to accept the espresso-colored stain.
One of the top wants for these homeowners was a place to store and conceal their dog’s food dishes when not in use. We designed and built a custom drawer in the toekick (the lowest part of a cabinet) that opens with a gentle touch, exposing the bowls.
Dedicated tray storage above the refrigerator makes good use of the higher, harder-to-reach areas, while custom, rollout shelving in the lower cabinets, means these clients no longer have to get on their hands and knees to search the inner recesses of their cabinets.
The client wanted a refrigerator cabinet with end panels to create a more built-in appearance. We try never to use fillers, so we converted five inches of remaining space adjoining the refrigerator into a tall, shallow-depth cabinet perfect for canned and jarred goods and other pantry items.
At the end of the kitchen counter return, we added custom, adjustable shelving with a finished wood interior for displaying cookbooks and other kitchen items.
A pull-out trash bin and a mixer lift pull-out (with a custom rollout below it) add a bit of design flair, plus they are true back savers.
