While the great room carries through design elements from the kitchen, mainly in the form of color and featuring cabinets with floating shelves above, it does so in a distinctly different way. We went with doors only on the base cabinets, with no drawers. This was intentional to distinguish between typical kitchen cabinetry, which features both drawers and doors, to this more “furniture-like” approach, which conceals rollouts and adjustable shelving behind doors.
Highlights include custom built-ins to the left of the fireplace, floating box shelves above, and an alder wood mantle.
